Jul 3-4: low band ES

July 3 began with British Isles and Benelux under 100 MHz turning later to France. While live listening, I identified at least Belgisher Rundfunk on 88.5, RFI Paris on 89.0, BBC Radio Oxford 95.2 and Dutch Radio 10 on 93.0. VRT Radio 1 showed RDS on 95.7. Later on the same frequency BBC Radio Cambridgeshire was possibly heard with Cambridge related topics. Conditions were nevertheless weak, not much commercial stations audible. Soon it get even weaker: BBC 2, 3 and 4 networks came under 95 MHz so I left recording on 87.8 (RSL frequency) and began painting walls. Only result was tentative RTÉ 1.

Next morning some low band Italian, but no ID’s. Presumed RAI 87.8 and Radio Maria 88.7 based on programme style. Because also this opening was a flop, I left home before noon, heading to town of Virrat, to participate Scandinavian Weekend Radio’s 15th anniversary. This station broadcasts regularly on 25 and 48 mb on short waves and nowadays also on 1602 AM and 94.9 FM.

Local band was playing on live studio, but visitors could only hear them.. (well SWR has not yet TV broadcasting..)
